University of Montana Creative Writing Program

Richard Hugo was one of many powerful influences in a writing program whose long history, which included Walter Van Tilburg Clark and Leslie Fiedler, began formally in 1966 with the establishment of the M.F.A. degree.

Committed to integrated study of literature and creative writing, the writing program prepares writers to teach a variety of courses at the college level.
