HOW TO WATCH PRO FOOTBALL, VOLUME 6 & 7

Y. A. Tittle, How to Watch Pro Football on TV, 1966, The Benjamin Co., New York

You and your brother-in-law are sitting in your living-room watching the Lions play the Packers. The television network has just called time-out for a commercial. Your brother-in-law turns to you and blithely says, "Watch Karras on the next play. If he keeps slanting to the outside shoulder of the guard, Schmidt will have to fill in the middle. So I'll bet Bart Starr pops the quick look-in to Fleming."

As the blood begins to drain out of your face, you realize what a boff you really are. You don't even know who Karras is. And you always thought people had right and left shoulders not inside and outside ones. And you wish you dared ask what Schmidt was going to fill the middle with. And so on. Your brother-in-law has aced you again.
