Peter Murphy’s poems and essays have appeared in The American Book Review, The Atlanta Review, Beloit Poetry Journal, Commonweal, Cortland Review, The Shakespeare Quarterly, Witness, World Order, and elsewhere. He has received fellowships for writing and teaching from The New Jersey State Council on the Arts, Yaddo, The Folger Shakespeare Library, The National Endowment for the Humanities, and the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars. In addition to teaching English and creative writing at Atlantic City High School for 28 years, he is the founder/director of the Winter Poetry & Prose Getaway held annually in Cape May.
