of stairs changes, cancelling
itself out - woods outside
through double glazing a visceral green,
mating season - heating vent
a short way up the wall:
this is where ectoplasm
issues;

we all stop there, or hesitate,
place of come-back
or mental garbage,
baggage we carry with us
(sometimes celebrated);
suddenly, in the hay shed,
making tunnels out of yellow bricks
of sheep feed, exposing mouse burrowings, nests,
the carpet snake working the zone,
