Ethnicity is a Noodle King

A long gamble through the subway. Location

we don’t propose only deem estimable.

I am devoted to that which does not make me distinct.

Race as to be written of forcefully, from within the gut, from within the flaw.

Today our students (who, even now, study race) are achingly familiar.

They make mistakes but filter down like snow. It’s very cold so

we build a pipeline from our offices to their locket of warm, gangly weather.

We teach them to admire sacrifice, particular people—a Woman maybe—

And this is the Woman

who I need most or— as much as the others.

It is my hope that they need me back.
