Birth of Pleasure, II
In a buttressed grove black crabs
sidle up trees alive with snails.
Gray heron balanced on one green stilt
grasping a mangrove root above the sea,
you must have more ecstasy than we,
sweating in scarred kayaks,
water slipping off our bright paddles.
Raccoons twist oysters from the mat
and red-legged ibises a reach away
watch us burn, topple, fight.
