It Isn't the End of the World
   Pamela Painter

No, it isn’t the end of the world, this spot on the tablecloth, after all another rogue nation announced they have nuclear capability, Iran is pursuing theirs, 700 hostages were held for three days by Chechen rebels in a theatre in Moscow, the Ivory Coast is on the brink of civil war, genocide is happening in Sudan, a Senator who dared to be a liberal was killed in a plane crash, global warming has created a dust cloud in Australia so large it can be seen in outer space, 911 now means more than the number to dial in an emergency, methamphetamines are the new drug of choice, available on  your local store shelves, the Supreme-Court-appointed mentally-deficient man in the white house is covering his party’s business dealings with a war in Iraq, and the world ignores Einstein’s warning that the fourth world war will be fought with sticks and stones, so no it isn’t the end of the world, this spot on the tablecloth, but when did it happen and why does it feel like the beginning of the end.
